Keep export arrangements separate from installation funding

Ask your electricity supplier about its current arrangements for exported generation and the metering and documents required. Do not apply a Great Britain Smart Export Guarantee description to an Irish property. Request separate assumptions for electricity used in the home and electricity exported when comparing a contractor’s financial estimate. Avoid treating an estimated return as a guaranteed saving.

Compare the proposed system and aftercare

Ask for the panel capacity, inverter model, expected generation and assumptions about shade and household consumption. If a battery is proposed, request usable storage, power limits, compatibility and any separate backup equipment. Keep battery installation questions with your quote comparisons. For an existing fault, ask whether the company services equipment installed by another business and supports your particular model.
